Standard of Conduct
June 10, 2006
All Board, Staff members and
Volunteers of the Johnson County Fire Chaplains Association, are accountable to the following standards of
conduct:
1) Every member will exemplify
holy living. The Lord Jesus Christ is the standard by which we are to understand
and judge what a holy life is. We are to conduct ourselves according to the
model set for by Him.
a) Every member will have a
quiet time of devotion and prayer each day. The Johnson County Fire Chaplains Association is a spiritual work that
cannot be successfully accomplished without the transforming power of Jesus
Christ at work in each staff member's life. To ignore ones walk with the Lord is
to deny the reality of the spiritual warfare that this ministry, and every
member of it, is engaged in.
**b) All members will conduct themselves in
a manner that is above reproach and that reveals an attitude of worship towards
our Savior and brings glory to His name. He/she will abstain from any activities
that do not reflect the purity and holiness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
c) No
chaplain or other members are to meet or counsel with members of the
opposite sex in any isolated place. All counseling of the opposite sex will be
done with either the door to the counseling room open, or with a third party
present.
d) Any verbal expressions or insinuations that could be interpreted
as sexual harassment with anyone are grounds for dismissal.
e) Any homosexual
activity is grounds for dismissal.
**f) Each member is to recognize that
he/she is representing The Johnson County Fire Chaplains
Association, and our Savior Jesus Christ at all times wherever he/she
is and must conduct themselves accordingly. He/she will not be involved in
activities that detract from that stated mission of The Association.

member will exercise good citizenship and will obey the laws of the
land.
h) The use of any form, illegal drugs, pornography, or any language
that is vulgar, profane, or suggestive is prohibited.
2) Every member will make his
family a priority. The Association recognizes that God-ordained priority of
the home and holds that a healthy family life is the essential base from which
ministry is done.
**3) Every
member will be a team player. All members of The Association will
exhibit a Christ-like spirit of cooperation and will endeavor to maintain an
atmosphere of love and positive good will in our organization.
a) Each
member is expected to pray daily for his/her fellow members at The
Association, as well as for himself/herself. The ultimate good of the entire
ministry will always take precedence over personal goals and desires. If any
member determines that he/she cannot be included in, and support the goals and
values of the organization, he/she will remove himself/herself from association
with the Johnson County Fire Chaplains Association

involved in a local church. All Board and staff members are expected to be
active members of a local church of his/her choice. He/she is expected to
participate regularly in the worship, ministry, fellowship, evangelism and
discipleship with his/her time, talents, and tithes. All converts won to the
Lord through the Association will be encouraged to unite with a local
church.
5) Every member will exhibit a
servant's attitude. And will always relate as servants. He/she will never act to
harm the Association. No member will use his position as a means to obtain
personal benefits. (normal discounts and seasonal gifts may be accepted but not

Every chaplain will hold
confidential any and all information concerning any
incident.
**6) Chaplains should also be
sensitive to the potential conflicts that may arise by their activities with

of God and the vehicle through which
he/she serves the Lord Jesus Christ.

professional manner while at work. Clothing will not be extravagant or immodest,
but tasteful and up-do-date. Generally, chaplains will be expected to wear
approved Chaplains apparel.

personal hygiene.
8) Every member will be a good
steward.
a) All members are expected to faithfully support their local
churches with their tithes. Offering above and beyond is at a chaplains
discretion.
The above standards are put forth, not for the purpose of attaining any type of
legalistic self-righteousness on the part of The Johnson County Fire Chaplains Association or any of its members, but
that our lives would be transparent examples of the transforming power of the
grace of God through Jesus Christ.
