Salvation Prayer

God sent His only Son to die on the cross for your sins.  Christ came to earth in the form of a man, died on the cross, rose from the dead and ascended to heaven to prepare a place for you in eternity with Him.  If you want to spend eternity with God some simple steps are below:
  • Realize you (as all humans) are a sinner: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23).

  • Accept the free gift of God: "The wages of sin is death (spiritual death); but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23).

  • Recognize that this gift is not earned or deserved: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not as a result of works so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8,9).

  • Believe that Jesus Christ is the only Son of God sent by God to bear the burden of our sins: "For God so loved the world (that's you and 1), that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:1 6).

  • Confess and believe that Jesus is God's only Son: "...that if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9).

   Pray:    Dear Jesus:
I know that I am a sinner.  I know You love me and You don't want me to be separated from You eternally.  I believe You are the only Son of God and that You willingly died on the cross for my sins.  I now repent of my sins and receive You as Savior and Lord of my life.  Thank you for saving me and help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. AMEN.

Pastorial Prayers & Poems

THE FIREFIGHTERS PRAYER

When I'm called to duty God
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.

A Fallen Firefighter's Prayer

Brother, when you weep for me,
Remember that it was meant to be.
Lay me down and when you leave,
Remember I’ll be at your sleeve.

In every dark and choking hall,
I’ll be there as you slowly crawl.
On every roof in driving snow,
I’ll hold your coat, and you will know.

The house from which I now respond,
Is overstaffed with heroes gone.
Men who answered one last bell,
Did the job and did it well.

As firefighters we understand,
That death’s card dealt in our hand.
A card we hope we never play,
But one we hold there anyway.

That card is something we ignore,
As we crawl across a weakened floor.
For we know that we’re the only prayer,
For anyone that might be there.

So remember as you wipe your tears,
The joy I knew throughout the years.
As I did the job I loved to do,
I pray that thought will see you through.

The last alarm

My father was a fireman.
He drove a big red truck
and when he'd go to work each day
he'd say "Mother wish me luck".
Then Dad would not come home again
'til some time the next day.
But the thing that bothered me the most
was the thingÕs some folks would say,
"A fireman's life is easy,
he eats and sleeps and plays,
and sometime's he won't fight a fire
for days and days and day's".
When I first heard these words
I was to young to understand
but I knew when people had trouble
Dad was there to lend a hand.
Then my father went to work one day
and he kissed us all goodbye
but little did we realize
that night we all would cry.
My father lost his life that night
when the floor gave way below
and I'd wondered why he'd risked his life
for someone he didn't know.
But now I truly realize
the greatest gift a man can give
is to lay his life upon the line
so that someone else might live.
So as we go from day to day
and we pray to God above
say a prayer for your local Firemen.
He may save the one's you love.
